Default Please Help Me With My Bump Stop Problem!! =(

About a couple of weeks ago I had changed my suspension setup with H&R sports and KYB AGX's. The dirctions had specifically stated to use the stock bump shocks but for the rear my mechanic had installed the bumpstops that came with the AGX's. When i asked him why he did this he had stated that the legnth of the two bump stops were the same but in my honest opinion im not sure I really dont want to risk damaging my setup so I would really appreciate any help. Thanks a lot guys.

There is no problem with using the bumpstops that came with the springs. By lowering your car, the less travel the shock has. So with a long bumpstop, you would hit that bumpstop everytime the spring and shock absorb. So with a shorter bumpstop, it allows more shock travel. If that doesn't make sense, PM me.

You'll know when you hit a bump and you here a lound 'THUMP', believe me you'll know. If you want to double check what the guy said about the bumpstops being the same, just jack up the car and compare the two. I cut my stock bumpstops in half to avoid bottoming out, it's been over 6 years with two different setups and never had any problems.

No the car doesnt bottom out. I jsut read that springs are desigined to work with specific bump stops, in my case my stock ones. So it would be ok to use them if both are the same height, rite??? Or Should i also worry about the progressive rates of the bump stops as well or just the height.

And btw, i cant see my bumpstops, it covered by the boot i believe. Thanks for the help everyone.

if you've never bottomed out then you have no problem. the car will be fine. the bumpstops just sit there and prevent the shock from bottoming out completely and doing any serious damage. just leave them, they're fine
