Guys, I just blew the transmission in my 2001 Civic EX auto.
The car has 97K miles.
I just got the quote from the honda dealership and it came out to $3700 for parts and labor. Because the cost is so steep, I am thinking about doing it myself.

I am pretty mechanically inclined and have done 3 transmission swaps (although on american cars).

The question that I have is two part:

1.) What year/model Civics had automatic transmissions that will fit my 2001 EX? Are the HX/LX/EX automatic transmissions all the same?

2.) How difficult is the transmission swap? Can it be done with handtools easily in my garage?
