piston ring stoppers??
my motor is at the machine shop and they guy said that my motor needs ring stoppers so that the bottom oil ring does not bend or break...i know it has the 2 thin rings on the top and bottom but i have never heard of ring stoppers..does anyone know what he is talking about and if you do where can i find them?
i have a 81mm b16 with je pistons, eagle rods/ and eagle crank. i have oem honda rings.

well here is what he is talking about...
this is a ring stopper or a ring guard...

this is my piston..

both next to each other.

he says there should be another ring that goes on the bottom and that ring does not move like you can move the other rings. its also a lot stronger. i dont know if you guys can see the nipple in the last pic that prevents it from moving..

They are called Rail Supports.
When the piston pin bore is moved up into the oil ring groove (usually from a stroker crank or longer rod), you need support for the thin rails that make up the oil ring.
Call JE, they should be able to help you out.
