Default Overheating problem.....

So....I was driving today on the highway and I glance down to see that my temp gauge is rising to the midway point between normal and HIGH....I quickly turn the fan on and put the heat on full blast and the gauge drops right down to normal and stays there......after about 10 minutes I go ahead and turn the AC Back on and a few minutes later the Temp gauge starts to go back up. So I again turn the AC off and resume driving around with the heat blasting and the temp gauge reading normal. I just replaced the water pump on this thing about 900 miles ago and also put a new headgasket on it, which leads me to believe that it's probably just the thermostat going out. Just wanted to get some second opinions........and yes when I got home I checked my coolant level in my Fluidyne radiator which was normal and there were no leaks anywhere else.........

Car is a 2000 Si by the way

I'd say thermostat. It's cheap anyways and I would've changed it same time as the waterpump.
