my friend's speedo did this before his dist went out. coincidence??

dizzy shouldn't be the cause
your sppeed sensor which is where your speedo gets it's reference from is on the back on the transmission check there for corrosion.

shouldn't
but, i switched dist and my speedo needle would bounce. not go to 0, then back.. go to 0 then back up.. but would jump form the 40mph i'm doing on up to 80 or more. like something was spiking. then i would get a CEL with no code.
switch back to old dist, problem fixed.
switch BACK and needle is bouncing again.
anyone?
is it possible a JDM motor/dist doesn't like a USDM ecu?? we're going through distributors on a regular basis.
