Oil and Rack & Pinion Leaks
Ok, so I've had a little bit of an oil leak, so not knowing much of what to do and not wanting to deal with it, I took my car over to Firestone. So they call me up a little while later and say that the oil pan gasket needs to be replaced, and also my Rack and Pinion is leaking and will need to be replaced as well. So their quote was ~$1000, $50 for the gasket kit, $150 for the labor, $500 for the Rack and Pinion, $300 for the labor. So with the oil gasket, I don't think it would be too hard and think I could do it myself. What do you guys think? And for the Rack and Pinion, do you have to replace the whole thing if there is a leak? I'm going to see if I can get a friend to do that at his job depending on how hard it is and what not. Let me know what you guys think...
Oil pan gasket is not that hard (Depending on what car you have) And a rack/pinion is not too difficut either except the fact you will need an alignment afterwards. However if you have to take your car to firestone to find a leak you probably shouldn't be doing anything yourself.

when i changed my rack and pinion in my 96 civic coupe it was a bitch. i tried my best not to expletive up the alignment but it got fucked up anyway so i got an alignment right after i put the new one on..
