I did a search, but could not find a thread that addressed my particular problem.

I just got a new oil pump from the dealership. The problem is that the metal spring that is tucked inside the pump seal came partly untucked. I can't seem to pop the ring back in because, of course, I get one side in the other side comes out.

I thought that if I just put the pump on the ring will seat itself, but I don't want it to be f'ed up and have to deal with it down the road.

What can I do? And, sorry for the stupid question.
