Default Oil Pressure Sensor Leak

Hi Guys:

This is one of the LAST THINGS I have to take care of on my B20 until it is perfect. My oil pressure sensor is constantly leaking for some reason. I have removed it, applied new liquid gasket and put it back in (twice), but it still slowly oozes out oil. I cant tell if its leaking from the sensor (if this is even possible) or if its around the threads itself. All I know is the connector and little boot are constantly coated with oil, and it gets so bad that it pools under the filter and then drips on the header, then of course burns and smokes like a bitch.

Can I try and use something different to get a better seal? I am so frusturated with this that I almost want to get the hole plugged

Help is appriciated.

Are you sure it's not leaking from somewhere above the sensor and dripping down? If you h ave a spare sensor around, I would try swapping that in. If you're using Hondabond, Permatex, or a similar sealant, it shouldn't be leaking from the threads, unless you don't give the sealant enough time to set up.

I'm positive its not above the sensor because I have verified the leak by watching it while I rev the engine.

I am just using some generic sylicone sealent that I got from Advance Auto. I let it set up for 24 hours (as per the directions) but it still didnt seem to fix it. Maybe I should try for something different.

I just checked and the sensor off my D15B7 seems to be the same. I will get some new sealant and plug that in tomorrow afternoon. (crosses fingers)

I had thought about that, but I was afraid that some might break off and float through the oil system. So this is ok?

If you didn't use teflon in the first place that is the reason why it is leaking. When you put it on just make sure that the first thread doen't have any teflon tape on it and you will be fine. You can also use teflon paste.

Sorry to ask a dumb question but you are putting the sealant on the treads right?

LOL of course

Ive been putting it on the threads, torquing it in, letting it set up for 24 hours then cranking the engine.

this is a very common thing to happen you just need a new oil pressure sending unit ... they are not expencive at all

i usually change 2-3 of them a week at the shop ....
