Oil light flashed
Hey guys. My brother was driving his 87' Lude today and he said the oil light started flashing. He wasn't driving a far distance. Does this mean the engine wasn't making oil pressure?
Oil pressure dropped below "Engine Oil Pressure Switch" trigger point or the switch is defective or there is a short to ground of the lead running from the "EOPS" to the low oil pressure light or oil pump is on it's way west.
You have checked engine oil level, right? 94

yeah, check the obvious first, engine oil level. usually thats the only time ive seen them on is when the engine is almost out of oil. then move on from there, check your oil press.
like wat fcm was saying, check ya oil level, thats if you haven't so. If the engine oil light still appears, get the car checked out by a professionally. Ideally someone whos an electrician in the car industry.

If the light just flashes, chances are the engine was a little low on oil. The light also usually trips if the car was being driven hard or quickly through a sharp turn, possibly causing the sensor to trip due to misreading. But even then, usually you're low on oil.
If the light stays on, that means you completely lost oil presure in the engine....not a good thing.

Well I did do the obvious i'm not that uninclined mechanically.. Lol.. But yes the Oil level was sufficient. Now, we were sitting at a light and it went flashing again, I stopped off at my work (Advance Auto) and checked the oil. After starting back up and leaving it didn't come back on. So my guess is probably the sensor. I'm going to replace it since it never has been and double check all of the connections.
Another thing. We were sitting at a light, it's been getting colder so the car runs cooler. The PGM-FI light came on and the car was trying to find an idle. IACV correct? I cleaned this one out but didn't make any adjustments to it. Think I should tighten it up a little given the age of the Lude?
