Default odd dizzy wiring ? (obd 0 to 1)

What's the purpose of shielded cable on the distributor wiring harness?
I noticed that 6 out of 7 wires on the 7 wire plug were shielded. Yel/grn to fat white is not shielded. I forgot to put the shielding back on after soldering.

I did an obd 0 to 1 conversion last weekend. Got a new problem. Idle is stuck at 1600 unless the speedometer reads 0. Drives fine and idles fine when i'm stopped at a light. No CEL's either.

Thanks

I used a obd 1 gsr dizzy, chipped p28 ecu, 4 wire o2 sensor, and harness from blown90hatch. It runs great except for the idle. No cel's. Does it matter if the wires on the dizzy are shielded (harness side)?

The Idle problem is most likely in your tune/chip. You don't have to "shield" the wires. I would just put some electrical tape over them.

So everything runs fine....your car is not idling at 1600 correct? I would check your grounds. I have not seen a problem with no shielding on those wires.

Idle is normal when the speedo reads 0. If i'm doing 30 and put in into neutral the rpm are at 1600 until the speedo reaches 0. Seems like when the vss is sending a signal to the ecu in neutral i have a high idle. I'll check grounds tomorrow. Thanks.

Grounds are battery to frame, tranny to frame, valve cover to frame, one near the t-stat.
Any others that i left out?

Your moving idle should be slighly higher than your stopped idle. Every car I have ever onwned has been that way. Maybe 1600 is a little high but, Is it just annoying to you or are you worried that there may be something wrong?

This didn't happen when I was obd 0. Idle was at 750 moving or stopped. It's not too annoying, i just want to know why this is happening. If the rpm bounced up and down when i was a lights it would really annoy me. I think it's the chip.

I'm burnt out from too much work this week . This weekend i'll check the grounds, try a new chip. If that doesn't work i'll try a p30. I'm using chipped p28 now.
