Default OBD1 engine harness

I have a 97 civic hatch with an 01 integra ls swap. I believe i am OBD2a. However my friend has a spare obd1 engine harness...is it possible to use his engine harness to convert to obd1 instead of a conversion harness? (i know hte conversion harness is easier, but this is free).

The important thing is the Wire Harness that comes out of the ECU itself.

With an OBD 2 ECU and OBD 1 Wire Harness, it wouldnt work.
