O2 sensor ?

if wires were mixed up on o2 sensor or wrong o2 sensor for the car would i get a check engine light for it, it is on 92 civic with ls/vtec, 4 wire o2

It's OK to reverse the 2 heater wires, but if you scramble the others you'll have a problem.
