is it normal for belt to squeak/squeal when wet?
everytime i drive through a flooded street, i could hear the belt(don't know which one) squeal/squeak when i accelerated out of the flood. it just squeak/squeal upon acceleration and then goes away and does it again if i drive through a flooded street again. i ask my mechanic about it and he said if my belt is not loose then that's normal coz his honda does it too when he drives through a flood.
btw, each time the belt make the stupid noise the car hesitates also like it want to slow down.
is it really normal? or is there something wrong with my belt? i don't know which belt is making the stupid noise but when i check all my belts except timing belt they're not loose and i believe the belts are in the right tension.

That's not completely normal, but it's the first sign the belt is getting old & hard. It'll probably last a long time like that, slowly getting worse until it annoys you enough that you go & buy new belts. What are they, $5 each??

What that guy said, It will start doing it when its damp out fairly soon, then all the time on cold starts. Break out the wallet and spend the $4.79

Belt dressing will probably help you quiet it down for a while, but it's still on it's way. If you can't afford that, just spray a little water on each belt, one at a time, to listen for one that makes the noise change. That'll only make the noise change for a minute, but maybe enough to show which belt is noisy.
