Default need tips for swap

I just purchased a 89 dx hatchback. It is burning oil like crazy. I've decided to purchase another 89-91 dx motor. I'm planning on doing the swap myself. This will be my first time w/ changing a motor. Will everything plug back in if I get another 89-91 dx motor? Any tips on doing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Everything should bolt up fine. I imagine you're going to have a hard time getting some bolts off so grease 'em up good with some liquid wrench or WD-40 some time before. Replace whatever parts you can while you can, who knows the next time you'll have this opportunity. Why'd you lean towards replacing the motor with the same kind? Why not build a hybrid of some sorts?

Why dont you try to find a SOHC VTEC motor?

those usually go cheap as well

I would swap either a zc or sohc vtec motor in there or even an 88-91 Si motor. Ditch that dx motor because they are just terrible.

I have a 99 sohc vtec I could swap in. It takes too much time and wiring. I'm getting the engine basically for the price of a sourdough jack combo. I don't care about speed on this beater car. I just wanted to get from point a to point b safely. Thanks for comments on the car. The reason why I picked up this beater was b/c my car is at the shop getting new paint. The body shop lags and i need a car to drive around.
