my catalytic converter started producing a raspy noise on my exhaust system. Just looking for some opinions on some high flow cats. I will be purchasing a new catback exhaust, and a header. I am currently running a stock header, stock cat, and a 2.5" Forza catback. Just a little loud for my liking; want to switch it up.

Now, I would just put a piece of piping as opposed to the cat, or a test pipe, but I don't wanna throw a code for o2. Do I need a cat for the sensor so I don't throw a code? And also, just piping would make it louder right? Which isn't what I want. Just wondering if I should pick up an OEM cat or are there any other online which are good that I could purchase.


the header I will be purchasing will be off the sponsor market, and catback will be megan racing black series for 92-00 civs. If that helps at all.

Apexi Noir, Tanabe, Spoon are some very good exhaust with deep tones. As long as you have your o2 sensor plugged into your header you should be good. You don't need a cat but if u do take cat off it will be loud. For the price most cat-back systems include a high flow cat.

 

are you in a state that requires a catalytic converter? get a Magnaflow high flow universal cat and install it.

 

yeah, well I decided since I already have 2.5" stainless steel piping, I will just replace my muffler with something that will have a mellow tone, but still sounds aggressive at WOT. but, I can't even remember now, does the o2 sensor plug into header near end or the cat? And no I'm in canada, no requirement for cat but I do not wanna throw a code, and I'd like it a little bit quieter. As I said, I think my cat recently started producing a raspier noise.

 

o2 sensor screws right into the header right above the downpipe, as long as you plug it in it wont throw the code. Most headers have port for sensor.
