need help with inner cv joints (PICS)
first of all this is an '89 accord 4dr manual

as you can see in the first pic, the wall of the inner joint cracked and broke and made a nice hole, so i want to replace this piece but how do i remove it from the transmission?

heres where i tried to pry it out with no luck.

and this is a pic of the inboard aside of the axle that goes into the inner joint in the first pic.
i'm kinda lost on what to do. this is my first time working on a front wheel drive car and this is all foreign to me. i cant get the inner joint out of the transmission, im also not sure what the part is called so i dont know what to look for when it comes to finding a replacement part. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

To get that out you need to take a cro bar and pry it out. It is hard to get out because there is a lock ring in there which holds the axel in place. Once you get the ring out of the grove it should pull out fairly easy.

this should have three bearings that go on the three shafts which will ride in the groves in the where the old one cracked. Make sure that you have them the right way when you put it back together or you'll have more problems.
Also make sure that you have tranny fluid bcause you might lose some when you get that out of the transmission.
Good luck.

Or just do as he says if you dont want to rebuild that one.

The lock ring is at the end of the shaft. You wont be able to see it until you get the shaft out of the tranny. Use a pry bar to get it out.
You are better off getting a new one rather than trying to rebuild it since that piece is shattered. You might want to put the boot back on the joint after you get it out or they might not give you your core charge back due to the shattered piece Some places are kinda **** about that.
