edit: Do d16y8s have knock sensors?????

or so.. at least my CEL tells me. I just threw a 23 which is the knock sensor on my d16y8. Any body have a clue why? I just installed the hondata gasget.. i was behind the block alot when i was wrenching that last manifold bolt on!

check on the back of the head by the intake manifold on top of the oil filter there is a plug there for knock sensor.

i'm actually pretty sure my engine doesn't have a knock sensor.. just trying to figure out why i threw that code. even if there's a plug there, how could that have thrown the code unless it's tied into the ecu?

well, i reset the ecu, took it out for a drive, and yes, code '23' came up again. this is really interesting

I haven't touched anything except pulling off the intake manifold to replace gasget.

you have a knock sensor...its right above the oil filter, with the plug removed the sensor is green ( i think) anyway,you should get a helms manual for your engine...

i do have a helms manual.. but i was always told that the D series did not have knock sensors... I'm confused

what would a knock sensor be called in a helm's?

You do have a knock sensor. Check the plug ( b/w intake manifold and oil filter) you could have just knocked it loose or pulled on the wiring to the plug.
