Default micropolish crank decision

i'm in the middle of fully building a motor for turbo, i want to get the bottom end balanced and the crankshaft micropolished. i can take the crank to a local shop and have it micropolished ( which i have no clue how much thats gonna cost ) or i can order one from autozone, where i work please dont flame. the one from autozone is from the company HI-TECH, and its 112.00 for a rebuilt one thats been micropolished and everything. so should i let a shop do the work, or do i order the reman. one from my work.

I wouldn't trust an Autozone product... Might wanna take that crank to a reputable machine shop for a balance and a micropolish.

Let the shop polish it. I don't know about the autozone one, but the stock ones are damn strong.

the block had around 100,000 on it when me and the friends pulled it apart, plus i called endyn to wonder just how much it is to balance a crank and they said 250. thats not including micropolishing. i'm gonna call the company next time when i work and get the real deal on the crankshaft.

The autozne (HI-Tech) is going to be ground undersize and will only be factory balanced. The oem heat treat (nitriding) will be mostly ground away.Micropolish will run around $25 plus the cost of cleaning it.Reuse your crank if it is not damaged.Balancing a honda crankshaft takes about 15 minutes if your really slow. That means about $1000/hour to balance a crank.Sounds a little high to me.

Whatever Endyn tells you its going to be gold, he may balance the crank but if the jouranls look good then he wont polish them simply because it will throw the bearing codes right out the window

I would be weary of the Autozone crank because its probably been turned (i.e. undercut journals) which require thicker bearings. You never want that crap in a hi-po motor.
