I just finished putting a new motor in my friends sohc vtec turbo dx coupe. The car keeps blowing the 80 amp main battery fuse. The car has tons of ricer accsesories, but I unhooked all of them he had ran, still blows fuses. Does anyone know where I should be looking to fix this problem. Also his old motor blew up and oil was every where including the engine harness, do you think that could short it out? thanks for any help.

 

look for loose or bad grounds. also you guys using the correct alternator? does it blow when its running or when u turn the key or when u connect the battery etc...

 

Has he replaced the fuse at all in the past? Mines an integra but its a 100 amp. Maybe he has too small of a fuse in. Just a shot in the dark but id try the easiest steps first.

 

I say voltage regulator

 

It was fine before the swap, it blows as soon as we hook up the negative trminal. I am stumped.....

 

try hooking the neg. terminal up first.
