Made a bet, need your help!
Here is the scoop. I got to talking to my grandpa about some engine problems. He seems to think it could be a bad lifter. Now I am no expert, but I have worked on plenty of honda engines. I told him there are no lifters in a b16. He thinks I am wrong. So i went and searched for lifters in honda motors and couldn't find anything. So my question to you guys is, are than any lifters in a b16 or gsr motor.
The cams in Hondas act on rockers which would be loosely analogous to lifters in an Amercian V8 which is probably what your grandpa is talking about. What is the problem it is having?

You can argue semantics all day long, but the camshaft never pushes directly onto the valve stem. Whatever is in between is often referred to as a lifter. Especially by someone who's not real **** about Honda's terminology.
B-engine's valvetrain doesn't have HYDRAULIC lifters, but the rockers, or tappets, or whatever you wanna call those levers (#5); they serve the same job as lifters. Instead of 'going bad', they can go out of adjustment.
Unless it's the LMA's that are noisy...

Aren't Lost Motion Assemblies just springs that keep the secondary rocker arm preloaded on the high-RPM cam lobe so they don't bounce around like ping-pong *****? People on this board talk about them like they are mysterious and since they look like hydraulic lash adjusters I could almost understand why they think this.

There are no lifters in Honda engines. The rocker arm has an adjustment bolt on it for clearence where it contacts the valve its self. The Lost Motion Assembly is basicly a spring that keeps constant pressure on the secondary cam followers.

Again, you're just arguing semantics. What would be your definition of a 'lifter'? You don't want to mess with TeamDoubleClutch's grandpa or he might take him out of the will and he'll miss out on that sweet Buick he was set to inherit.
