ls turbo vs. ls/vtec turbo
I was wondering your opinions on an ls turbo vs. ls/vtec turbo. The engine will be fully built of course, but just wondering the outcomes of actual people who have done either one.
Its gonna be a mission tuning it anyway! Then throw vtec in the pic???????? That would be kind of a pain in the ***. But if you got the money, go for it!
if u got money comin out of ur booty, go ls vtec, but i heard vtec wont work with turbo tho!! butim votin for vtec turbo
I have a ls/vtec-t. Do it. It's not nearly as difficult as people are saying. If I may make some suggestions that will make your setup easier, I suggest you get the greddy or autotechnic filter adapter that fits between the block and oil filter. It'll make your install tons easier. Also you'll need the fitting you'll need that adapts the metric thread on the head to a 4 an. You can get it from racerpartswholesale. C-speedracing.com has a good writeup and the part numbers you'll need.
Get the block girdle. Machine the mains. I wouldn't even rev a b18c without one. Since you're going to be fully built, get some higher rpm valve springs.

ls/vtec turbo. i have built cars that changing from a fully built and ported ls head to a stock grs head without changing nothing but the head and have seen upwards of 100 hp gains.

no dood...when you turbo a ls/vtec, it puts out the vtec flame. I mean, how can u have vtec and a turbo? they will just fight against each other.....(yes, do a ls/vtec) but make sure you do it right with the vtec oil pump, water pump....and so on. Everything about a vtec head is better also. The stock head will flow super nice, the valve train is way better...if your gonna fully build the motor like you say you are...make it have z-tec.

yes ls/vtec turbo is great. 81mm bore ls/vtec with stock gsr head valve train only, 550whp with 428lbs of tq!!!!!!!! and still revs to 9,900 rpm. in every gear..yes it works wonderfull.

the ls/vtec turbo setup does work. there is a magazine out right now, i cant remember the name of it, where this college student put 500 hp to the wheels. he did almost all of the work himself. although it does help that he was an engineer major with his own machine shop to work out of, but it does work though.
I have major issues with my car on vtec and boost. Everytime it should hit vtec I get a code 21 or 22 depending on how my car wants to **** me off

$1200 bucks isnt much when you consider the power gains you are getting for that money. also hes talkin about spending a considerable amount of money on the motor with the plans he has for it, so if your building a complete motor it is not goin to cost $1200 to put it on.
