Depends how it is cut and what you are going to put it thru. Say you want to use a double diaphram or ACT extreme pressure plate. I wouldn't use a lightened flywheel due to flex issues in addition to safety issues.

I'll check into that. I'll have pics soon. These nodular iron steel units are higher strength iron with a higher pitched ring when tapped.
They are specifically made with less weight instead of being cut.

I'm sorry but the shaved flywheel look like ****. Hey Rocket, The flywheel you are selling capable of holding 500hp? 12 lbs is good. Let me know.

who cares about looks, this ain't no show car and nobody gonna see your flywheel.
Ask about step machining a air cooled VW flywheel and how to make then last at 6-7 lbs. Those old timers been doing it for 30-40 years.

18.1 before, 12.2 after.
He said he could have got another 1-1.5 off, but felt the strength would be a issue with the way I launch. Yes he did ask how I launch!!!!!!
7000+ on slicks.

B-series flywheels are available for sure.
I'll get some pics soon. These flywheels are pretty nice.
I used to have mine lightened but costs were high. 45 to lighten, 28 resurface, and 25 to balance on top of having a core flywheel to begin with. Nobody wanted to pay these prices plus a little extra for my efforts.
These new units are the ticket especially since most B20 are automatics.

Rocket, thanks for the e-mail pix. The pix looks like an aluminum wheel or do you have to install the friction plate on the iron flywheels also? I have an 8 lb CM flywheel but I'm thinking it's too light for my race car.
No, the iron units are two piece like stock units. Flywheel and press fit ring gear.
Are you sure you aluminum is too light? If you add in 13lbs of clutch disc and pressure plate the total weight is not reduced as much as you think.

FYI, this is a really good flywheel thread, for anyone who is interested.
