LF b16-EK swap help
Hey guys. I'm new to honda, I guess I'll get to the point as quick as I can.
I bought a 99 4door civic. Bone stock. 2 weeks later the stock motor blew. I fell ***-backwards into a deal I couldn't refuse for a complete b16 swap that came out of a 97 civic. I don't know much about the swap other than its supposed to be a direct drop in sense everything came out of an EK. The block says b16a and the production date is 93 iirc, but the head has a red valve cover and it looks like an original type r valve cover not a diy job, so I think it might have a type r head especially since the ecu says b16b type-r in yellow marker.
I pulled my old motor, installed the b16. Everything was smooth and straight forward. It cranked on the first try but the fuel pump wasn't coming on so I hardwired the fuel pump to the ignition coil fuse and it started right up. Sounds good so far?
Problems:
-the alarm I had previously installed doesn't work properly. Its arms and lock but the remote start doesn't work and the automatic turn-off and alarm activation upon closing the door after removing the key doesn't work.
-the speedometer and tach on my cluster don't work, I plugged in another cluster to check and it was the same issue so I know its not my cluster. the fuel and temp gauge are fine tho.
-im pretty sure the vtec isn't working. Its pulls pretty nice all the way but I don't clearly hear a "crossover" or sudden blast of power
-there an extra plug from the engine harness and no spot for it to plug into the ecu
This is all I can think of for now. If u need pics of specific things to help diagnose my problems, just let me know and I'll post em asap.
Thanks guys!

You might be running an OBD2A ECU in your OBD2B car. If your car is a 99 it should run the square shape OBD2B ECU. If you're using the rectangle shape OBD2A ECU I think you need to convert the harness.
your correct. Its rectangle, not square like the original ecu that came with the car. i was thinking of trying to find a 99-00 SiR ecu? will it even work with a b16a engine?
This is what you need to keep using the ECU you have:

The other alternative is to get a compatible OBD2B ECU. I happen to have an OBD2B square ECU for a B16A if you want to go that route.
