Does a Honda 4.7 final drive exist? The only one I've ever heard of is from Jamie Houseman. He'll make you a 4.73 for D-series motors for about $1100. Doesn't do you any good, though...

If you currently have a 4.4 final drive, it should be a 16 tooth pinion with 71 tooth ring gear (yeilding 4.437). A 4.73 would be a 15 tooth pinion with 71 tooth ring gear.

Did this combination ever come out of a Honda factory?

Yes it does exist. It is called the JDM 4.785 Final Drive. As for the part number, have no clue. But I know a great company you can buy one from at a hell of a price. http://www.RandDMotorsports.com

That would be a 67 ring / 14 pinion, right? (4.786)

They came in the JDM DC2-R.

The easiest way to do it is probably just to pick up an entire JDM Type R gearbox. May be expensive, but not much (if any) more than the labor needed to swap a FD in your tranny.
