ITR/CTR cams question
I would like to install ITR or CTR cams in my b16a1 but I don't want to rev past 8000 rpm...
Do I really have to install ITR/CTR valve springs too???
And, Do I have to adjust the valves on ITR/CTR specs???
Thanks

Your stock valve springs should be fine for if you are planning on keepin the rev limit stock. If you raise it and find a way to make power up there then upgrade.
if you are installing the cams u will probably have to rev past 8000rpm to get the maximum output out of the cams. I had spoon street cams installed in my car and it makes max power at about 8500rpm. I have a 9500rpm rev limit with my spoon n1 ECU and using stock vavle springs currently.
All i gotta say about camshafts is DO IT!!! You will love the sound of the engine in VTEC believe me!! The valve springs will last if you are not a track racer. They should withstand 8500rpm for a couple of traffic lights
Also, you should get the CTR camshafts coz they have a more aggressive profile...
my 2 cents

i have itr cams and i occasionly go the drag strip with the car and i do take it 9000 rpm with my modified ecu. I just wanted to know what kind of valve springs and any other prts i should get I should get if i take it to 9000 rpms. I am currently running on the stock valve springs.
and when i say occasionally, i mean maybe once or twice a month

CTR cams powerband begins to drop after 7800, if you really want to make power up that high i would recommend some JUN 3's. They can easily make power to 8800. Toda B's will give more midrange power with the top end of a CTR cams.

Can a b18c motor make power by installing a CTR intake camshaft and leaving the exhaust cam stock....?and am i right in assuming that you can still retain the stock springs & retainers with this setup as well...?

To Speedix: spend a few dollars to upgrade your valvesprings or spend big dollars to repair your engine. If you rev to 8500 even once in a while you run the risk of breaking a retainer and turning your engine into schrapnel. The B16 valvesprings are not up to the task of handling the bigger CTR or ITR cams. If you are only going to 8500 then ITR valvesprings are fine. Beyond that you need aftermarket springs (Skunk2,Crower,Toda, Jun, etc.). You might want to consider titanium retainers as well, they are well worth the investment.
Honda part numbers for Type-R valve springs are: 14751-P72-003=exhaust inner
14761-P72-003=exhaust outer
14751-P73-J02=intake inner
14761-P73-J02=intake outer
By the way, 2000-2001 Integra Type-R cams=CTR cams.
1997-1998 Integra Type-R intake cams are just a little milder (3 degrees less duration). Exhaust cams for above motors are all the same.

ok, thanks, your advice is very appreciated....I think I'm gonna look into some springs when the time comes to install de cams...As you said, I'd rather spend more before than after putting the cams in...
