i HAVE SEARCHED and havent found anything to answer my question. ive been thinking about ITBing the car.......ive seen pictures of them and understand how they work, but my question is this......do they just work without air filters??? i was wondering if how they filter the air.....or am i completely misunderstanding something here???

How much searching did you say you did. Yes, most ITB setups do go unfiltered. Some people are making pleniums for there ITB's now. And you could make a attachment that would allow the use of a filter, but it wouldn't scream like open atmosphere ITB's do. They sound so mean.

 

so then they arent smart for daily driving i guess?

There are small filters available that fit over each air horn.
