intermittent clutch shudder
search turned up NOTHING! not a single thing. either that or not enough people know how to spell shudder properly. anyway, sometimes when launching, my Ls teg likes to give a good shudder. it definitely feels clutch related and not engine related, and the shudder feels like massive wheelhop when doing a burnout. it's usually if i launch at around 1500-2000 rpm, and no i'm not lugging it i know what that feels like. if i give 2000-3000 rpm it doesn't do it usually. and sometimes it does it no matter what, and sometimes it doesn't do it no matter what. the clutch seems to grab ok and doesn't ever slip so i don't think it's especially worn... any ideas?
is anything damaged? does anything need to be replaced? if i can live with the annoying symptoms, is it ok to keep driving it like this? thanks for the replies, guys.

Clutch doesn't have to be worn thin - you're seeing the other way for a clutch to screw up.
It's just like imprinting brake pad material unevenly on the rotors, it's not uniform friction around the clutch disk, pressure plate, or flywheel. You could try using 4th gear in an empty parking lot; try starting & you'll just slip your clutch a LOT. Maybe it'll get better, but probably not. Or just go ahead & replace it...

i see. i thought maybe along the same lines as turning your rotors, resurfacing the flywheel. would that take care of it? or if i'm gonna go in there at all i might as well replace the clutch and put in a lightened flywheel, while i'm at it, huh??
If the non-uniform surface is ONLY on the flywheel, sure... More likely the clutch disk & pressure plate are uneven too. After all the work of dropping the transmission, do you really want to put the old clutch back in?
