To install or not to install the Air Bypass Valve
I did a search on this subject, however the results where minimal.
I picked up the Air Bypass Valve yesterday, and to my amazment... found out that you needed to cut the intake pipe..Thats why they dont advertise the instalation procedure. oh well, no problem.
While I can have this done, I am wondering if I should just take the thing back to Summit and spend $40 on something else...
Ive alsways been scared using a CAI, constantly watching the road.. And living in NorthEast Ohio with a lot of snow in the Winter, I get very paranoid.
Has anyone done any performance before/after with the Bypass Valve? I have the fender plastic, but the edges are a bit rough.
So what are all of your thoughts on this???

Take it back. They are a waste of money. I've run in Ohio for 2 years with my CAI and have never even come close to sucking up water. You have to imerse the end of the CAI completely for it to pull water into the engine, and unless you are driving through a flooded area you should never have to worry.
I hate those things, I just made my AEM into a short ram and kept the long piece so in case I wanted a CAI...I could just put a sleeve on it and have both, kinda like the old Iceman's...but I did buy a bypass valve...which was a waste of money!! I need to post it for sale....
Thats funny, I was thinking the same thing.
Getting it cut, but instead of putting the ABV on, I will put a rubber sleeve over the 2 ends, and then during the winter, put the ABV on for protection..When I had my Iceman CAI, I remember the Filter was dripping wet from rain/snow, this made me a little bit concerned.

yo I live in Wachington where it rains all the damn time and on my way to canada once it was raining pretty hard and my engine started to bog down like it was on 3 cylinders or something so I pull over and my filter is soaking wet and dripping water like crazy, so I went to a friend of mines who lived up the road and made my cai a short ram. after i got back I bought a bypass valve put it on and have never had anything like that happen again. i say it is worth it for the piece of mind. there's my 2 cents
