Ignition timing is working in reverse. How is this possible?
I have a 91 crx dx with mpfi. I desided it was time to check my ignition timing. Dang!!! How did this happen? When I put the pointer on the timing mark, im nowhere near the red or white marks. they are closer to the firewall of the car. When I rotate my distributor counterclockwise, the car retards. what!? shouldn't it be the other way around? Because when I rotate it clockwise, it moves towards the front of the car, but nowhere near where the marks need to line up. Could I have put my distributor on wrong after the mpfi swap? I know there is the cam key that can only line up one way, but could I have rotated the shaft on the distributor causing it to behave this way? By the way if anyone asks, I did short out the service connector under the dash.
Anyone? Plz I need help, I've done this a thousand times on my b16a on my old Si. This has never happened to me before.
Make sure the idle is set right for the timing adjustment.
make sure idle is 750rpm +/- 50rpm when setting timing on B16A
