I got the new 4 piece Crower cams!!!
They have been in and running for about a month now, and before that they were in the motor of a good friend of mine, so I'm confident they were broken in accordingly.
Well, this is the aftermath of my latest adventure:
This part bothers me almost more than the cams breaking...A retainer has actually broken...and I cannot find the other piece
What you see is the actual valve spring where the part of the retainer has disappeared...

hey man that same **** happened to my home boys b20 crx just a week ago in the same exact places he already called crower and told him they would give him a new pair, but he don't wanna run them anymore.....he bent #2 and #3 ext valves..it was the ext cam that broke
Gawd Dayam!!!! How the hell did you do that? I have never seen anything like that before. Did anything else go out as a result of this? Man, thats some crazy *** drivin....I give you props.....
Call me stupid for asking but did you torque them in sequence and correct specs? Hmm wonder if there is a flaw in construction. Sorry dood.

Hey bro, same **** happened to 2 buddies of mine. We were at the track, one of the guys does his run and the exhaust cam breaks at the tree. The other guy lines up after him and also breaks the exhaust cam. Also at the tree!! They were both using the same crower cams, now they're running skunk 2.
I'm willing to bet that it's fualty on the installation of the cams. Crowers people said that it was a mistake for their 1st batch of cams that they made, but they have since them changed and fixed the problem accordingly.

Damn, that sucks man. Definately find where that other piece of the retainer went. Most likely it's inside one of the valvespring assemblies. GL

Yea, I would think so also, but I follow procedure when installing new goodies and use the correcet torque and sequences, so I'm pretty confident that this is the result of poor craftsmanship

Good to hear they are gonna work with you.
Pull that head and have it completely cleaned. Whatever you do, find that broken retainer piece before you do anything else!
Good luck.
