03 Civic 1.7l Coupe

Problems:
When the car is stationary and started up, i turn the steering wheel from center position to the right or left position there is a Humming/Whining noise that comes from IDK where???
And it gets louder as the steering wheel approaches to the far left or right.
Please help!! This is really bothering me.
And now recently when the car is started up and stationary and i make it go to about 4-5k RPMs there is a rapid ticking sound from under the hood.
I don't know whats going on!! PLEASE HELP!!

 

Check your PS fluid its probably low and your pump may well be going out

 

Put some power steering fluid in.

 

Power steering fluid is enough in the reservoir.
Its upto the upper level.

 

start the engine and then open the resovoir..see if the fluid is bubbling or just sitting still..is it hard to turn at all?

 

I had a similar problem. I thought it was a noisy pump, so I replaced it and the noise was still present. Several mechanic friends have now told me it's most likely a bad steering rack introducing air to the system.

As JDM L. said, look in the PS. reservoir. If the fluid is foamy, your pump is sucking air from somewhere. The rack is commonly the culprit.
