How to set a dial bore indicator???
I just recently bought a dial bore gauge and a set of micrometers to check clearances when I assemble my engine. I know how use and read the micrometers but I'm wondering how to set the dial gauge correctly.
For example if I measure a main crank journal with a mic and it reads 3.139" how do I set the dial gauge to 3.139"? The dial gauge has different length anvils to choose from and washers that are .10, .05, and .02". The closest I can get the dial gauge is 3.12" or 3.15" with a 3" anvil and the above washers. I thought the dial gauge was going to be adjustable. Thoughts? Ill have pics up later when I get home

put dial gauge in the bore...zero it it out...then use the micrometer to measure the anvil ...when it hits zero then that was ur measurement..go on evans-tuning site on gsr engine build
