Default How to indentify a B17 tranny?

some local guy is selling a 'B17' tranny but i dont know if hes telling the truth. i know YS1 could be an LS tranny too. is there anything outside of the case that would help me identify it as a ls or gsr tranny?

not that I know of. Other than the sticker that might or might not be on there.. hopefully it doesnt cost much.. its hard to find a cable trans that hasnt been whored out in 10 different swaps that grinds every gear.

The YS1 sticker is a start, but means almost nothing, lol, other than it being a later cable tranny. You're probably going to have to split the case and count gears to be 100% certain of which one it is.

count how many revolutions it makes when you turn the input shaft. should be a link in here somewhere to explain how to do it. https://honda-tech.com/forums/transmission-drivetrain-127/transmission-topic-index-good-links-etc-1922582/
