How hard will it be to....
Rebuild a B18C5 engine, to make it reach 550 hp? What all would it entail? I don't know very much about building an engine, but I want to do it myself (with the help of my dad) cuz I don't want to pay the labor fee. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Dont bother with the b18c5, a b18c1 will work fine. Sleave it, bore it, new rods, crank, pistons, etc.. the whole deal. Slap on a t3/60-1 with a big *** FMIC and you'll be there with some patience and tuning. The specifics are all up to you.

go for the c5. its all gsr and vtec and stuff....If youo turbo you'll pretty much just have to build the internals and do an exhaust. thats about it. They don't like the high lift long duration of na cams....most perfer stock setups. Maybe a mild p&p but not necessary, so however much it costs to resleeve and get a nice massive exhaust, with a nice custom made header, and **** like that. substancially cheaper than N/A for the gains you'll be pulling. Ohh maybe a nice fuel management system. good luck
Why get a c5 when you are gonna replace all the internals anyway.. there is no way that you can keep the bottom end mostly stock and make a reliable 550 whp. You will be taking away almost all the advantages that a c5 has over a c1 if you build up the block and do some headwork, not to mention that you'll have to lower the compression no matter which engine you go with. Save yourself some money and get the c1.
