Default How Do I Bypass the Heater Core?

This is for a 1996 Honda Accord LX (F22B). I haven't used the car in about a month, and it's been parked on the street on an inclined hill. I just started it up today and pulled it into my garage, and that's when I noticed:
1) My entire driver side floorboard was soaked, and
2) Water was profusely leaking out from under my car, on the driver side.

I did a quick search a came up with heater core problems, but I'm still a bit unclear about something...

I've identified the two hoses that go into the firewall. Can I just unplug the ends that go into the firewall and loop them together, or plug them up? What should I use to loop or plug the two hoses?

Some additional questions:
1) Those hoses are ridiculously difficult to access and remove. Any advice?
2) Any alternative points that I can disconnect the hoses from? (there seems to be some points under the car that's easier to reach, compared to the firewall)
3) What size are the hoses?

Thanks for your help.

Unplug the two heater hose lines from the core fittings on the fire wall. Then connect them together with one of these heater hose couplings and two hose clamps.

That's all you need to do.
