Honestly, I wouldn't waste the money on it. I know 2 people who have done this, and the gains are minimal.

A good LS engine can be gotten for under $2000 complete.

Figure pistons, rings & rods alone would cost you $1000 +/- and don't forget to add on labor.

I also would suggest against the mini-me setup. A b20 can be had from hondamotorsonline.com for fairly cheap, then ****** up an early Integra tranny and you have a pretty good setup.

If the engine is in good shape, and doesn't need a rebuild don't even take apart the bottom end....even if you do, new rings, bearings and gaskets cost nothing...

Listen, you're the one who said it costs, and I quote "nothing". Nothing in my book means free.

So when you make such a statement, please be specific. There are a lot of newbies here that will think you mean free or cheap, and this is NOT the case.

Bearings, rings, and gaskets cost money. And for some people, so does LABOR. Some of us know how much it takes to build engines, and others pay for it.

Either way, time or $$$, it's all relative.

What happens if the guys crank is bad? Then he's out more $$ to replace it or have it machined back to spec. Unless he has a machine shop in his garage, he has to do what most of us have to. Send it out.

Let's get down to what it really costs to do a mini-me.

1- Replace rods, can cost up to $350 for aftermarket units
2- Replace all bearings - about $40-60
3- Hone cylinder walls. Maybe even have them bored for oversized pistons.
4- Buy new pistons. Not a good idea to put factory pistons on aftermarket rods. New pistons can be as much as $500 for a complete set with rings.
5- Gasket set - about $200 for the complete set
6- Water pump - Might as well replace this while your there - about $100
7- Oil pump - Since your there, get a D16A VTEC pump for more flow - about $100-$150 including pickup
8 - Timing belt - about $50
9 - Don't forget you need a VTEC head. Used these go for about $200 with the manifold
10 - Since you're doing a mini-me, why use the stock exhaust manifold. DC sports ceramic 4-2-1 used, about $150

If you're really for this, by all means, go ahead and do it.

All I can say to you is, there are other things that can be done for less money, and get more power.

Like I said, a complete LS swap is under $2000. Install it yourself, save money on labor, and learn some stuff about your car.

Come to the DOHC side, and enjoy life.

Oh, I almost forgot. If you're low on cash, and a LS swap is out of range, I know a guy selling a perfectly good 94Si complete swap for $650 + shipping.

You have got to remember, D-series motors are much cheaper to rebuild than B-series....he may not need a rebuild, and yes a LS swap is cheap.

If you can rebuild motors yourself, and have the time and need it, it doesn't cost that much:

Main/Rod/Thrust bearings: $30
VTEC oil pump assembly $60
Oil pickup $20
VTEC Timing belt $15
Piston rings $90
Top/Bottom end gaskets/seals $70
Water pump $30
Crank micropolish $35
VTEC head complete $200
Cylinder hone, torque wrenches, piston ring compressor, piston ring expander, etc. @ autozone FREE (loan-a-tool)

It's not really that much if you do it yourself, but I wouldn't spend that kind of mony on a D15, I'd swap in a D16z6 or y8 longblock or an LS swap if you can afford it.
