Honing a B16 for OEM rings.
Hey guys, I am building a B16 with oversized CTR pistons and using OEM Honda rings. My machine shop wants to know what grit of finish to put on the cylinder walls when they hone it. Does anyone know the answer or where I could find it?
Thanks

I would think if your machine shop doesn't already know that, you should go somewhere else. I don't know what you need to use, but I'm no machinest. I know the place I go already knew what to use.
Well like many places in Idaho this machine shop has never worked on a B16 before. If I bring them the rings they will be able to make an educated decision but they want to know what finish Honda uses from the factory(just as a fail safe) since the rings are OEM.

if the machine shop is asking you a question in which you assume they would already know, then dont have that shop work on your block. its only common sense dude.
Hone cylinder bores with honing oil and a fine (400 grit) stone in a 60 degree cross-hatch pattern. If the machine shop doesn't already now this then I would be very careful with measuring proper clearances.
