HID flicker/burn-out
My passenger side HID bulb has started to act up. First it would flicker on and off, or flicker dimmer then come back to full brightness. Now it totally cuts off. If i turn it on then turn it off, just the passenger side will not come back on. Do you think it's the bulb or the ballast. Any ideas?
Also when i was replacing bulbs before i got the HID kit, i noticed that the socket the bulb plugs into was burnt up. Could I have fried a wire further up in the circuit and now it's causing connectivity problems?

Hmm from what you describe it sounds like the ballast. When your turn the system on, do you her the buzz coming from the ballast? If not then it could be blown. I would also back track all the relays as well. Also what kit are you using? I know for a fact if you dont use the properly rated fuse for the inline power, and headlight high/low fuse, you can easily blow the ballast.

I switched the ballast location to the other side to see if it was a problem with my car wiring. Well the problem followed so i'm sure its the ballast. I hear a pop/fizz sound when i turn the lights on from that one ballast. When i first got the kit i heard i high pitched whine from both ballasts. Looks like i'm in the market for a new ballast. Also i'm using a 15amp fuse. The recommended i upgrade to that. It's an EagleEyes HID kit. Seems like i'll try Phillips next. Can you just get the ballast and make it work?
yea the high pitched buzz is the noise i was talking about. If you switched sides and the problem still followed its going to be the ballast. I kept blowing ballast a while back and I had no idea what the hell was going on. Finally I traced down to my under dash fuses. I had my freind who is a electrical engineer check things out. He was telling me that the ignitor in the ballast was getting to much current and that ignitors in general are pretty sensitive to adrupt current. Depending on how long you have had your HID kit, the ballast should have some kind of warranty. I kept returning mine back to Hella before I figure out the problem. Also, make sure all your ground connections are intact and grounded to a good surface. Good luck
