Default Help with VTEC not engaging!!! '92 CX B18C1 swap

Okay my roommate owns my old hybrid. I did the swap and I know it was done right. Swap was done in April '01 and I haven't had any probs. Engine is a '94 B18C1 with 60k at the time. New water pump, timing belt, and fuel filter.

My roommate has bought it and hasnt' had any problems until the other day. He went to Quik Trip for gas (premium) and now NO VTEC. It was late last night, but today he drained the gas and put in BP 92 Octane. Still no luck. We checked the wires to the VTEC solenoid and everything is intact.

Obviously we checked the oil levels and that's fine.

No CEL whatsoever. What could this be? We thought maybe the fuel pump or oil pump. Wouldn't we get CEL for either of those?

Any help would be appreciated. You can send me an AOL IM at WRXRATED7 also. Please help guys. I've been messing with Subarus too long and nearly forgot how to work on Hondas!

Well after looking at my Helms manual for awhile, I wondered a few things. The VTEC solenoid has two filters in it. Has anyone ever known this?! Maybe those are plugged up. We've checked all the wiring. It's crazy because it worked briefly the other day, but hasn't worked again since. Wouldn't you get a CEL if the solenoid itself went bad?

Thanks,
Todd

If there's anyone out there that thinks they can help me out, please send me an AOL IM: WRXRATED7

It doesn't just seem like VTEC, but a loss of power overall. Could the ECU go bad? Has this ever happened to any of you? What about the oil pressure? Is it worth checking if I'm not having other probs?

Thanks,
Todd

sounds like this to me too
as I had the same problem myself one day was fine and the next head gasket change no more VTEC

and it was that

that is where I would begin and then scratch ur head and check other stuff like the ecu
