Help with ignition problem!
Here's the backround - did a b16 swap into my 90 EX over the weekend. Everything went fairly smooth - the new motor fired up fairly quickly & was ok on a quick two mile test drive - just a bit of a hesitation at higher rpm's & a small bit of jerkiness in the tach. A bit later on Saturday I'm driving home from my workshop when the tach goes nuts - bouncing around & the hesitation gets really bad - like it's not firing correctly. We (myself & everyone else who was doing our two swaps) think that the ignitor in the distributor I've had rebuilt is bad, so I went & got the ignitor out of a d16a6 distributor that I know was working fine on Saturday & put in in the rebuilt distributor. The car now fires up ok, but on a quick test drive the same symptoms show up - erratic tach & bad hesitation like it's misfiring. At this point I wonder what the odds are that two ignitors have failed, so what are some other possibilities? One thing that could be bad is a repair job I did on the wiring harness - a friend (with no brain) had cut some of the wires around the drivers side main connection (the connector right next to the injector resistor box connection) - so I fixed with some pins from the b16's old wiring harness. Could it be one of these connections is the problem? Or do the wires on that side have anything to do with the distributor?
Thanks in advance for any ideas/help!

Update - I figured I'd give it one more try, so I tried to press together the area where I had attempted to fix the wiring harnes & fired up the car. No problems on warm up, so I took it for a quick spin. Almost no problems on a 5 mile loop, including freeway driving until I was nearly back home, then a couple of small hesitations. I guess I'll redo all the connections in the repaired area tomorrow & see if that doesn't fix the problem...
