Default Help a girl out!

Okay well I am thinking about putting my B16 head on a GSR bottom I know its not as easy as slapping them together but my question is has anyone here done this and if so where you happy with the gains you got? I drag my car and well I'm tired of my husband beating me (HAHA) he sprays a 55 shot but I'm all-motor and if you have any other suggestions please feel free.

THe B16 flows slightly better at high RPM. Very slightly. And the compression ratio wil drop a little, something to think about. If you're all stock, there's plenty of mods to do before switching heads because I don't think there will be much of a gain if anything. Certainly it won't get you close to the effects of a 55 shot.

well my B16 head already has TYPE R cams, spring, retainers, skunk2 cam gears, skunk2 manifold and I think thats it for the head.......as for the 55 shot I think the compression on a GSR and B16 is to much and eventually it will blow thats why I havent sprayed mine yet....whatcha think?

Does your husband only have a 55 shot or does he have additional work?

b16 head on gs-r and spray. the compression is still low enough for a 50 shot because it should be slightly lower then a gs-r due to the b16 head.

Ive done that swap numerous times...doing it though lower the compression of the gsr(in the mid-high 9:1 area)...but the flow is pretty much the same...Ive sprayed up to a 100 shot on a stock b16a...only upped the fuel pressure slightly, and retarded the ignition timing a few degree's.

My husband has no other work done just a bone stock GSR......So in all honesty What will I gain (if anything) by doing this if I run all motor. And seriously 100 shot I'm impressed. We are going to up grade the rods any suggestions about what kind are the best?

you can run the 55 shot on a stock GSR.....make sure its all dialed in correctly and operational only at wide open throttle. Run a wet kit......if you keep up on maintenance etc....you shouldnt have any problems. keep your GSR head....

I dont have a whole GSR I just know where I can get a bottom at.....I run the B16 in my CRX and I'm just not happy with it--it runs the same time all the time that good when your bracket but I would like to be a lot faster Any suggestions? I'm scared about spraying it because of the compression I run in NOPI and dont exactly have a motor just lying around I mean if all else I could drive my husband car but don't really want too.

If youre swapping in the gsr bottom end, your compression will be low enough to boost big or spray big..so you shouldnt have to worry about blowing the engine.Just dont over rev.You can spray big with the b16a bottom end also...i was on 5 lbs on my b16a,230whp and took it all the way to 9300 rpm on a completely stock bottom end and head. The compression of the motor isnt high enough for you to worry about spraying...ive also had a 75 shot on a bone stock b16a,used up 2-10lb bottles and 1-15lb bottle in 2 weekends, still putting 400 miles a week on it going back and forth to work. You'll be ok.

the motor will be fine with the 55 shot you want to add..........compession is nto too high. I have friends running 15:1 compression in their big block chevy's and squeezing 300+HP kits on top of that. Setup and monitoring the engine is key for longevity. i have another friend with a CRVTec about 11:1 compression and squeezed a 100 shot the whole year without any problems.
