Help With Gates Timing Belt For LS/VTEC (Pics Inside!!!)
Need Some more help.... thing is i have a ls/vtec that im rebuilding everything so i can be sure of my motor since i trades a b16 for this and it has a gates racing timing belt this motor delivered 212 hp to the wheel and i wanted to know if this timing belt can still be used it only has a scar.. its so small it isnt visible you have to look deep,or is it ok to go with oem but im just worried if i use oem it wont hold up ..please help me asap

on the last pic if u look very ard u can see what i called the scar..it looks like **** but just wanna know ...BTW this belt i highly doubt its been on for more than 2 or 3 years

Evan though the belt looks OK, there is no way in hell I would use a used timing belt on a rebuild, better to be safe then sorry. 94

Do the right thing, buy a new one. Heck for a high output motor I would be changing my belt pretty often, 50k miles doesn't sound too unreasonable.
