Default Help...car stutters/bogs on acceleration please look

pasted from h.t. because no one could come up with anything over there. my first post about the subject:

hey my car is doing this wierd stuttering/bogging thing. 97 dx with an ex head. It seems it only does it too when the car is under load. I was revving it a bit and it seems to rev just fine however when i am driving and the car is under about 3krpm it like doesnt wasnt to go u can mash it and it just sounds louder but doesnt think about accellerating faster and u can feel it almost bucking when it does this. When i pass 3krpms about though it gets life back and starts to accellerate again *(the rpm readings are just a quick guess and are not 100% exact but it was about there and in the low rpm range). In the higher rpms it goes fine and feels like nothings wrong but in lower rpm it feels like it hits a roadblock and wont accellerate good no matter how hard you push the gas and like i said it has a shaking bucking feeling at points.
PLEASE HELP ME lol
-Eric

and heres where i stand now with the latest post:

ok so i changed my fuel filter today, put in injector cleaner and topped off my gas tank. it was still doing the same thing when i left the gas station but i mean maybe it takes a bit? any other suggestions? i went to go and just revved it up to see how it was doing and it made like almost a pop noise and stuttered a bit to rev then it revd fine after that and when i pulled out it was doing the thing with no power and kind of bucking and also everytime i step on it vac shoots way down then i let off and it goes up bur i mean the car doesnt move. could this be a faulty map sensor(it also only had one side left the other was broken off where the screw goes through and i thought it was held on well but im not 100% positive)? would that throw a code or? i have no code still btw. please all suggestions are welcome,

edit: so far ive done
-new plugs
-new wires
-checked timing
-new cap on the dizzy cuz the old one was shot
-fuel filter
-injector cleaner
-topped off with gas
-checked quickly for vac leaks but the idle is pretty solid so i dont think thats it

hi i joined the site because i was told by a friend that you guys are very knowledgeable over here and i really need to sort out this problem as ive been trying everything i could think of but have just about run out of ideas. any help is greatly apreciated because this car is my daily driver and i have been relying on rides since i cant figure out what it is thats causing the problem and havnt gotten any one else that could help me and knew what it could be. so all suggestions are welcome because i just need to get the car up and running again.
thanks for looking.

I just changed my map sensor and it was running exactly the same...totally crappy under 4000rpm. i was cruising at like 2000 and stepped on it and heard pop-pop so i let off downshifted and got it home. after maybe a 10 minute ride i popped the hood to find my exhaust manifold right before the cat glowing bright orange like the end of an extension cord. i come to the conclusion with the help of a friend that im either running insanely lean(which i thought) or timing is way off and the gas is igniting when the exhaust valves are opening(what he thought). i dont think injectors could be this clogged...could they? im totally confused at this point and i really need my daily driver back.

-Eric

edit: i just pulled the plugs and im getting a speckled grey on em so im deffinitely running lean. ha yea that iacv i finally got cleaned up and working properly haha twas a pain lol. thanks for the input. so tomorrow im going to check the engine timing and make positive that everything is good with that and if thats not it only thing i can come up with is fpr, injectors, or fuel rail... any suggestions?

check your ignitor, then your coil....you will have to do a resistance reading, if you dont know how, then just replace them with known good parts

I can almost guarentee you its your ignitor though

ohh **** I didnt read the second post. I suspect you have multiple problems...do you have any cels?....was the cat glowing red? or just the manifold....the stuttering sounds like an ignitor, the glowing manifold sounds like a partially clogged cat. converter....post up some vacuum readings of the car running

na no cels. whats an ignitor? just the manifold before the cat i think idk i was looking at it in the dark n it scared the hell out of me to see to be honest lol. running like idling or? at idle its like 20hg i believe when i looked ill double check today...i was gunna check engine timing to get that out of the equation. is there a writup on doing engine timing? i marked everything and thought i was good but i must have not been.
