Default help with ac and burning rubber problem pls

a couple days ago my AC started to suck, the light for the AC would stay on but the cold air would randomly go to more of the temperature of if the AC wasnt turned on. today i was driving and a burning rubber smell started to come out of the vents and from my engine bay followed shortly by a kind of metalic grinding sound (like i was dragging something metal). any help would be appreciated, because of my work schedule it will be a few days before i can get it to a mechanic.
btw my car is a 99 civic dx with less than 75k miles on it.

Sounds like compressor has gone, [or is going] west, it may be seizing up and the burnt rubber smell is the belt slipping. 94
