i broke my countershaft in my gsr trans. got the new part put everything together. tried slidding the syncros up & down made shure they worked smoothly.
put all the forks in so they were all in neutral position. put the case back together.
when everything was bolted back in the car i tried shifting throught the gears with the car off & it was just hard as hell to shift from gear to gear. then when i started the car the same thing when i was sitting still. when i drove the car down the street i heard no grinding what so ever when shifting. but it was easier to shift but still a little stiff.
any idead?

Is it all the gears that are hard to shift into or just one gear?
I have a similar problem with my teg where it is hard to get it into first gear sometimes (it only goes halfway), so I have to put it in second and then back into first or put it in neutral take out the clutch, push it back in and go in first.

Well I have researched this problem before and there really is no solution. I have check Team-integra.net and no one really has a solution, but a lot of people have this problem. Some people say that using GM Syncromesh helps. I haven't personaly tried it but I will give it a shot next time I change my tranny fluid. Also some people say it is because the tranny hasn't warmed up.

got bored so here is a little knowledge.
well if u take your tranny apart the syncros are made out off brass.
the reason for this is your always going to have wear on them because thats the way the tranny was designed. brass is the softest of metals so it wont harm any other geards when it flakes apart & wears down.
now i will show u some pics of some parts showing u what your problems are most likley.
first i will show 2 pics of a syncro hub & sleeve. the sleeve is what the fork attaches to & slides up & down over the hub & syncros switching gears.
alot of the time these 2 parts are overlooked due to the fact that everyone thinks its the "syncros" that are causing the problem so they just change them out alone depending on what gear it is.
notice between the teeth on the hub where sleeve has worn a groove in the middle & even a little notch in the side of the teth. this has happend all the way around the hub causing the sleeve to bind while moving. making it very hard to shift.
look at the light gray areas.
now on the sleeve if u look at the top & bottom of every tooth u will see a burr witch is causing most of the damage. most of that is from jaming gears to hard.
( damn nos motor, oh sorry) also these 2 pics are of 3rd/4th gear hub sleeve

now lets move onto a syncro. a new syncro is pointed at the tips along with the rest of parts, hub, sleeve, syncro gear ect..
if u think about it if u hit something that is pointed odds are u will slide off 1 side or the other.making things smooth. when it starts to get rounded of flat your obviously going to hit it, bind up a little then go around it thus making it hard to shift. now for the pic
notice at the top the fourth one in from the left u see a little burr & thier all pretty much rounded of the synco would have a little life left exept fot the burrs makes this part trash, this is on my second gear syncros, damn nos
.
hope this explains a little & u learnd something
