h22a camshaft issue
Hi,
I have just replaced my timing belt and replaced the auto tensioner with kaizenspeed manual tensioner, I have replaced water pump and idler assembly, The issue i am having is with the cambelt itself tracking off on the intake cam gear, the belt overhangs by approx 1.2mm, the cambelt does not track off the exhaust cam gear though i have noticed that the intake cam gear is not aligned with the exhaust cam gear, I can confirm that the issue is not with the cam-gears but the intake camshaft itself, i can pry the camshaft forward slightly to take up the 1.2mm difference but eventually the intake camshaft moves back to original position in-which being 1.2mm back from the exhaust cam, the belt does not track anymore than 1.2mm off the intake cam gear settles after many rotations this acceptable? Thanks

That would be your camshaft end play. On an H22 the standard amount of movement back and forth is 0.05 - 0.15mm and the service limit is 0.5mm. I would say you ether have a worn cam journal/caps.
You could try a new intake camshaft. However if that doesn't fix the issue you will more than likely require a new cylinder head.

^^ pretty much sums it up.
Did you install the belt guides on the crank correctly? Are you sure all of the pulleys are in alignment? If so you have worn thrust surfaces, either on the cam or the cylinder head.
