gsr header on b16
ok like the topic says, this is what im doing, because i got the header cheap. My question is, which exhaust manifold gasket do i get from honda? One made for the b16? or do i go over to acura and get a gasket for the gsr? The part number is different. What should i do?
of course the part # is diffrent because the are for diffrent cars, but the question is will it fit. im not to sure if it will, but if it does then get either one. and if ur looking for the GSR headers i got some, just make me an offer
ok, does anyone know what gasket i need? Also, i had an overheating issue yesterday that i pretty much took care of, but i have a question. Ok i drove the car HOT for about 5 minutes waiting to see if it would cool down, and it didnt. The temperature gauge was sky high. I know better than to rev high or any thing like that if i have a problem like i had. But anyway, i replaced the thermostat and the temp sensor today, and it runs great, temp where it should be, runs strong and hard, etc. Here is my question. What are the chances that i fucked something up, such as cracking the head or the block while driving for that 5 mins under high heat conditions? Also if anyone has the answer to my gasket question that would be greatly appreciated also
you mean the gasket from head to header?you can use any b-series.
As far as the overheating, i wouldnt worry about it if your car is running good; to warp the head/block you need to REALY overheat it

ok so any b series gasket will work. Good. And you really think 5 mins of driving under VERY HOT i mean the temp gauge was all the way up, didnt **** **** up? Ive checked the oil, its straight. No leaks anywhere, no smoke. But this guy i talked to said aluminum will **** up quick if it gets that hot. Its a pain in my *** and im all worried about it. I did 5 mins of light driving with the temp gauge as high as it could go. So do you think i REALLY over heated it? i hope not i really dont feel like pulling the head again
as for the gasket either one will work but the header is gonna hang lower than a b16 header would... as for the over heating let it warm up then leave it running and pull off the radiator cap and see if it bubbles..if there are no bubbles and it seems to flow properly then it is fine...if there r bubbles then i prolly has a blown head gasket..

ok i finally got the t-stat installed, and the engine now warms up to operating temp and does runs great. i checked the coolant in the radiator after the engine warmed up, but i left the cap of THEN let it warm up, i wasnt about to pull the cap off with a warmed up engine, not trying to burn my face. Anyway, it seemed to flow fine, no bubbles, nothing of that sort. the coolant kind of just sat there didnt really do anything? is that about right? any more input would be greatly appreciated
