Default Ground Control Coilover problem

today i got to raise my car up so i start with the left side. To my amaze ment and loosin the the screw AND taking the screw out, the adjuster disk thing would not move freely. So i spray it wit water then WD40 and i get the same results. Finally i get desperate and the side to take a screw driver and harmer it into the groves in the direction of up which did move it while i was hammering wit but after that it would still not move freely by hand. So then i decide to give up on the wheel and try the right side and to my surprise again, i had the same results as the previous side repeating the same steps. Only thing that I can tell u all is that i have just recently gotten an engine swap,( but right after i got it i was still able to adjust the coilovers), and that its colder now, and frankly my alinment has been off real bad since i got the car back. If anyone can make any sense of this and tell me what to do then please help.
