Default good head package sugestions????

Well, I have around $1200 and I think I have decided to put it into my cars performace. Not handling, rather speed. So I figured for that price, or around there, I could get a nice head package (valves, valve springs, retainers, camshafts, cams, port and polished - maybe mill the deck just a little.)

Anyway, do you guys think this is the next step I should take? I don't have the money for FI, and don't want "NOS." If so, any suggestions on who to purchase this from? Or do you think I would be better off gettind a port and polish job, and buying the parts seperate and installing them myslef?

Finally, I don't know of a dyno around st. louis or columbia MO (where I go to school), so would there be any point in getting the adjustable cams?

Also, I heard it is a good idea to get a v-afc - or something comprable to adjust feul/ vtec engagement(raise it). Any feelings on this?

peace out

u have a b16, how about saving a little more and building the block

resleeved to 84.5mm w/ hi compression pistons
or get a b20 block and add high compression pistons.

then work the head later.

JG engine dynamics! They have head packages. $1200-$1400. The redline series head is for N/A setups and the Proseries is for FI applications.

Hmm, about $1200?

Well, you could get a port and polished head for about $800, but then you need springs and retainers, and of course cams.

What are your goals with this engine? That might help to eliminate some variables.

Get the headwork.

Right now portflow costs either 900 or 950.

mill the b16a head 30 thousanths of an inch, install portflow valve springs and titanium retianers while head is off to be milled and get a set of CTR or ITR camshafts.

I happen to also have all that stuff too plus a milled b16a 99 Si head, so if you need it shoot me an email.

well, my goals are to keep a VERY reliable engine, and get some more power out of it. Probably long run NA, but who knows, I could always slap on a turbo and swap out the cams. But for now, I just want more speed, but w/o the cost of FI. I wanted to just get the whole deal in one package so I could just pull my head off, and slap the new one on. I have good mechanical skills though, and am capable of building the head myslef. Obviously I have to get the port and polish done somewhere. So yeah, thats that.

On the subject of camshafts, would something like crower be worth the money over CTR/ITR? Or is the difference not too big?
