Default Gas in the oil?

my brother in law changed his oil in his 2003 expidition and the oil is realy liquidy and smelly like gas. what could this be? rings going bad?

that or the rings are ok but a cylinder isn't firing....

If it doesn't fire it'll seep down the sides even with good rings...

oh, so if he has a loos spark plug wire or a bad spark plug then that keeps it from fireing and gas builds up in the cylinderand seep down past the rings?

yes...

A friend of mine had the coil disconnected and tried to crank the car like 10 times... the oil had a good amount of gas in it after that..
